Nail treatments

Pre-treatment advice

  • First time appointments: please attend with polish and enhancement free nails.

Atercare advice

The first 24-48 hours are crucial to ensure that lifting or chipping does not occur so please follow the advice below.

  • Avoid heat such as a bath, shower, sauna, steam room and hot ovens for at least 12 hours after your treatment.

  • Always wear gloves when doing tasks such as housekeeping and gardening to protect your hands and nail enhancements.

  • Ensure you always have gel polish and nail enhancements professionally removed. If you try to peel and pick them off yourself you will damage your natural nails. We offer a nail removal service.

  • Do not file your nails or push your cuticles back while wearing gel. This will break the seal of the gel and can lead to chipping.

  • Apply Cuticle Oil once or twice a day to the top and underside of nails and the surrounding skin to promote nail flexibility and prolong the life of your enhancements.

  • Tinted lotions, spray tans, suntan creams and hair products can lift or discolour your enhancements. Wash hands thoroughly after use.

  • It’s advise that our gel nails should last for up to 14 days if looked after carefully (7 days for nail biters). If you have any problems during this time, we offer a free repair service. Repair appointments must be booked within 14 days of your original appointment.

HD Brows Browsculpt

Please note that the minimum age for HD BrowSculpt is 18.
HD BrowSculpt cannot be performed on any client who is pregnant or breast feeding.

Pre-treatment advice

  • Ensure a patch test has been carried out at The Beauty Queen at least 48 hours before your treatment, every time.

  • Avoid the use of fake tan around the brow area at least 2-3 days before as this can cause the tint to go green.  If you do wish to use fake tanning product on your face, apply a barrier to the hair and small area around the brow prior to tanning to prevent the tint going a green colour.

  • Avoid the use of retinol-based products for 3 days before.

  • Avoid the use of sunbeds at least 24 hours before.

  • Avoid the use of AHAs, Facial Peels or Facials (including exfoliation) for 3 days before.

  • Avoid exfoliating and anti-ageing products around the brow area for 3 days before

Atercare advice

The first 24-48 hours are crucial to prolong the life of your treatment so please follow the advice below.

  • Avoid getting the brow area wet, or coming into contact with water for 24 hours.

  • Avoid contact with direct sunlight, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and swimming pools for the next 48 hours.

  • Avoid touching and rubbing the area.

  • Avoid using fake tanning products in the area for 3 days.

  • You must inform us immediately should you experience any itching, swelling, rashes, bruising, skin grazing or cuts after your treatment, so we can advise you on the correct procedure to follow.

  • Use Tint Lock Serum twice a day following treatment to keep the brows conditioned and ensure the health of the hair is maintained (think having your hair permed and/or coloured…you would need to condition it!). Tint Lock Serum will also prolong the life of the tint and improve the overall health of the brows.

Hair removal advice

Pre-treatment advice

Please do not use a sunbed for 24 hours before having a wax, and refrain from using active products for 72 hours before, as these will compromise the skin.  Hair must be a minimum of 0.5cm for the wax to grip (usually around 3 - 4 weeks growth).

  • Brows & Facial Waxing - If you can, please arrive without makeup on or around your eyebrow area as this will ensure the wax can adhere to the hairs properly so they can be removed more efficiently.

  • Underarm - Please do not apply deodorants or perfumes to your underarm area before or after the treatment as this can cause irritation.

If you have used a self tanning product, after waxing the area, your natural skin tone will appear so we recommend avoiding using self tanning products before your waxing and 72 hours after waxing.

Please bring or wear loose clothing to your waxing appointment to prevent friction which can cause irritation to your freshly waxed skin.

Aftercare advice

It is normal for the area to go red after having a hair removal treatment, and not uncommon for small, raised bumps and slight soreness to be present in the area, particularly if it is your first time.  These contra-actions will usually subside within 24 - 48 hours after your treatment.

After your hair removal treatment, please avoid the following for 24 hours:

  • Heat treatments such as sunbeds saunas, baths, steam rooms, hot tubs and jacuzzis

  • Direct sunlight

  • Swimming, particularly in chlorinated water

  • Strenuous exercise, or activities that may cause you to sweat

  • Excessively touching the treated area

  • Use of make-up, deodorants, face or body products in the treated area, other than those recommended by your therapist

  • Other skin treatments in the area

To avoid ingrown hairs, moisturise the area daily (after 24 hours) and exfoliate 3 - 4 times a week using a body exfoliator or loofah.

It is common to experience a slight regrowth within the first week or two following a hair removal treatment, as the hairs will be at different stages of their cycle (of which there are three).  Due to this same reason, your first few treatments may not leave a completely smooth result, as there may be shorter hairs the wax cannot grip.  Regular treatments every 4 - 6 weeks will allow the hairs to 'catch up' with one another and fall into the same regrowth cycle.  It can take a few regular treatments for this to happen and to gain smoother results that can eventually last up to 6 weeks at a time.

Tinting

Please note that the minimum age for lash and brow tinting is 16, to comply with EU regulations. Without a valid patch test at The Beauty Queen, your tinting treatment cannot go ahead.

Pre-treatment advice:

  • Ensure a patch test has been carried out at The Beauty Queen at least 48 hours before

  • Please remove any contact lenses prior to your lashes appointment.

After your tinting appointment:

  • Avoid the use of fake tanning products on the face for 2-3 days where possible.  If you do wish to use fake tanning product on your face, apply a barrier to the hair and small area around the brow prior to tanning to prevent discolouration of your tint

  • Remember your results will be darker and more defined immediately after your treatment.  The tint will fade depending on the frequency of cleansing and exfoliating in the area

  • Brow tints can last anywhere from 2-3 weeks, with lash tints lasting around 4-6 weeks
